Children and Youth Ministry
As we are a family based church, children and youth are a fundamental part of the life and ministry of Bethlehem Community Church. The Children and Youth Ministry exists to complement and encourage families in their primary role of nurturing their children in the Christian faith as they grow in knowing, loving and serving God. Consequently, it is important to us that we have quality programmes that cater for our children and youth.
Preschool and Primary: The primary school aged children are involved in the early part of the Sunday service before going to their own programme. Their programme aims to teach biblical truths, Godly values and life skills at an age-appropriate level in an engaging and relevant way. Preschool children either stay in church under supervision (and use the cupboard of materials set up at the back of the auditorium) or go out with the primary school children and are supervised. We have dedicated family services for the whole church about once every school term.
Intermediates and Youth: The Intermediate / Youth meet in the lounge after the early part of the service but stay in the service on the first Sunday of the month when communion is celebrated. Their programme also aims to teach biblical truths, Godly values and life skills which meet the needs of young people in our society. The intermediate and youth meet socially as a group and there are also activities for them as part of the family based activities at the HUB on a Friday evening.
Mainly Music is a fun music program for parents or primary caregivers to enjoy with their preschool child. Throughout the session, children develop gross and fine motor skills, language, imagination, mathematical and pre-reading skills – as well as socialise with others. Mainly Music meets every Wednesday morning at 9:45am during term time, to sing, dance, eat and play. All families are welcome. Mainly Music is affiliated to Mainly Music New Zealand.
Bethlehem Community Church is a family-based church. One of the ways we celebrate being a family is at The Hub on a Friday evening. The evening begins with a meal at 6:15pm and ends after ice-cream around 8:30pm. It is a time to get together for a meal, catch up, activities for young and old. A great family occasion where people can just hang out together and enjoy the time. All welcome!
Budget service for Families and Businesses:
Bethlehem Community Church offers a free, confidential and professional budget service for families and businesses. The service is provided by Janet Brooker, who has wide experience offering budgeting services and as a business mentor both in New Zealand and in Rarotonga. She has a heart for using her professional expertise to help people who need guidance and support with their budget in their family or business. Janet is available every Tuesday, 10am – 12noon at Bethlehem Community Church. Just call in, or contact the church office to make an appointment.
It can be hard to identify with a large group of people who meet together for worship on a Sunday. A small group is a great way to get to know others in the fellowship and to build friendships. Small groups are an ideal context for worship, building community, spiritual and personal growth, and service. Contact the church office for the time venue and time of the homegroups.
“I will sing to the Lord all my life; as long as I live I will sing praises to my God” Psalm 104:33.
Worshipping God through music is an integral part of every service of worship at Bethlehem Community Church. The music worship team seeks to lead the congregation in worship through music. Our music expresses praise and worship using contemporary Christians songs from a wide variety of artists and from our own members. We also worship using the wonderful heritage of hymns and older songs.
